Jakarta – The ASEAN Women’s MSIG Serenity Cup™ 2025 trophy - the newly minted symbol of Southeast Asia’s premier women’s football tournament - made its first official stop in Jakarta over the weekend, launching the regional Trophy Tour with energy, inspiration and promise of new possibilities as women’s football continues its rise across the region.

MSIG is proud to serve as the first-ever title partner of the tournament, marking a historic milestone in its mission to empower women and elevate the sport in ASEAN. As part of the global MSIG network, MSIG Indonesia and MSIG Life are united in this purpose: to help women protect and pursue their life goals, on and off the pitch.

This year’s tournament will take place in Vietnam from August 6 to 19, 2025, featuring eight national teams: the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia, Timor-Leste, and Australia.

First held in 2004, the tournament has become a leading showcase of quality, competitive football, featuring top female talent and rising stars from across the region. Now, with MSIG’s support, it takes a bold step forward, expanding opportunities for women in sport, strengthening grassroots development, and celebrating the transformative power of football.

The MSIG Serenity Cup™ trophy, handcrafted by world-renowned makers Thomas Lyte, features 10 distinct, rising peaks. These peaks are a direct representation of the 10 ASEAN member states with each peak signifying a country’s unique journey, strength and contribution to the sport. The peaks, together, symbolises the united presence and aspiration in the pursuit of excellence. A key feature in the trophy is the fan-shaped blossoming design integrated with the 10 peaks. This elegant, unfolding form evokes the beauty, grace, and unfolding potential of women's football. The outward curve suggests a welcoming and inclusive spirit, and the rise of women’s football.

Bernard Wanandi, Vice President Director of MSIG Indonesia, stated, “We are deeply honored to serve as the title sponsor of the ASEAN Women’s MSIG Serenity Cup™ 2025. This tournament provides a meaningful platform to support the remarkable progress of women’s football in Indonesia and across Southeast Asia. Our support underscores not only our commitment to empowering women, but also our responsibility to help drive inclusive growth in sports.”

Tomoyuki Monden, Deputy President Director of MSIG Life, added, “Our support for the MSIG Serenity Cup™ is aligned with MSIG Life’s purpose to help individuals lead more meaningful lives. Just as we provide financial protection, we are also committed to enabling more women to pursue their fullest potential. We believe that when women are given the opportunity, they can shape a brighter future for themselves, their families, and their communities.”

Galih Kartasasmita, Manager of the Indonesian Women’s National Football Team, emphasized the team’s preparedness and growing confidence ahead of this year’s tournament. “MSIG’s support has opened up greater competitive opportunities and exposure for our players. This is a critical step in the professional development of women’s football as an industry. With an experienced coaching staff and an increasingly mature squad, our goal is to reach the semifinals—or further,” he said.

As part of the Trophy Tour, MSIG, in collaboration with AirAsia and the Indonesian Women’s Football Association (ASBWI), hosted the MSIG U-12 Girls Football Festival, a grassroots initiative aimed at nurturing young female talent and strengthening the foundation of women’s football in Indonesia. ASBWI operates under PSSI (Persatuan Sepakbola Seluruh Indonesia), the national football governing body and a member of both FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). Together, they play a vital role in developing young talent and expanding access to football for girls across the country, including through initiatives such as this festival.

Designed to inspire young female footballers and engage the wider community, the event drew 120 participating girls aged 6 to 11 from local football academies.

Adding to the excitement of the event, Indonesian women’s national team players, Mayzura Alifa Yusuf and Citra Ramadhani, were also present to share their personal journeys from grassroots football schools to representing the country at international tournaments. Mayzura, a rising forward who has represented Indonesia in AFC, AFF, and FIFA youth tournaments at the U-17, U-19, and U-20 levels, shared how early exposure and discipline helped her grow from a local football academy player into a national team athlete. Citra, a senior player who has proudly donned the national jersey in multiple FIFA Match Day friendlies, recalled her proudest moment, scoring the final goal in Indonesia’s 3–0 away win over Bahrain. It was a reward for years of hard work, starting from local matches in Samarinda to reaching the national stage. Their stories serve as powerful inspiration for young girls, demonstrating that with dedication, discipline, and resilience, any dream is within reach.

Through this initiative, MSIG aims to create impactful experiences that build self-confidence, teamwork, and perseverance, key values that extend beyond the pitch and contribute to building a more empowered and equitable next generation.

The Trophy Tour will continue its journey across Southeast Asia, with upcoming stops in Thailand and Singapore, as anticipation builds toward the tournament kickoff in Vietnam this August.
