Underwriters are at the heart of MSIG and work in close collaboration with risk management, actuarial, marketing and claims management. The decisions they make are directly linked to MSIG's overall profitability.
The general scope of an underwriter involves assessing the risks to be covered and gathering the necessary information for the analysis using a wide range of channels, including the news, and other digital and predictive tools. They also take into account technical factors in drafting and defining coverage terms, conditions, pricing and policy wordings.
Underwriting professionals should have an analytical mind, and excellent negotiation and communication skills. If you have a background in insurance, engineering, business or law, and have the ability to analyse complex situations, negotiate and problem-solve, join our underwriting teams, who are amongst the most respected and best-in-class within the general insurance industry.
Our teams of actuaries play a vital role in mitigating the financial and insurance risks that we face. The actuarial teams work in close collaboration with teams from other business divisions, such as risk management, underwriting and information technology to help MSIG make the best decisions to meet the needs of our customers.
The actuarial teams in MSIG play a multi-faceted role and provide a review and certification on the adequacy of reserves. They also perform portfolio monitoring, profitability analysis and pricing of major products. If you have a passion for numbers, and wish to have a strategic role in the insurance business, join our actuarial teams at MSIG.
In connection with our multiple global business lines, risk management plays a strategic role in determining the level of enterprise-wide risk that is acceptable, which significantly impacts long-term profitability and corporate viability.
The risk management teams are responsible for identifying, analysing, anticipating and quantifying all internal and external risks. They also create a positive risk management culture and enhance the enterprise risk management framework in accordance to internal policies and local regulatory requirements.
Risk managers should have excellent analytical skills, good knowledge of the business and a background in actuarial science, statistics or an equivalent (preferred, but not essential).
At MSIG, service excellence is our core and we strive to go above and beyond in order to meet the needs of our customers. High-quality service is ingrained in our culture and nothing is more important to us than to ensure that we are there for our customers when they need us most, and to also be able to assess any claims fairly.
The claims team works closely with marketing, underwriting and distribution teams to ensure that customer experience for claims is consistent and positive.
The claims team is key to a positive experience for our customers especially when it comes to moments of truth, when the unexpected happens. If you have a remarkable sense of service and problem-solving abilities, join our best-in-class claims team at MSIG.
