MSIG announces today that it is collaborating with AXA Partners in its Singapore and Vietnam markets. AXA Partners has inked an exclusive global partnership with Scoot, the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines Group. As part of the partnership, MSIG will underwrite Scoot’s travel insurance, Scootsurance, for customers purchasing travel insurance for departures from these two countries.
In a survey conducted by insuretech Ancileo, in collaboration with MSIG Singapore, it is revealed that travellers in Singapore are most motivated by price when evaluating travel insurance plans, with 35% of respondents stating that they are open to purchasing in-path travel insurance. According to the survey findings, travel is also expected to pick up further, with three in five saying that they plan to take a trip when asked in the survey. Driven by these learnings, MSIG has tailored Scootsurance to meet the needs of active travellers who place high importance on essential trip protection in the light of post-pandemic travel.
Scootsurance offers over 30 travel insurance benefits to provide Scoot customers with peace of mind while travelling. With a choice of a return-trip insurance plan, customers are compensated if they need to cancel before or mid-way through their trips, including the loss of Frequent Flyer Points of up to S$500 if they have booked the flight tickets with points. Scootsurance can be purchased as an add-on when customers book their flights on the Scoot website.
KrisFlyer loyalty members are further accorded with special benefits of up to S$50,000 for inflight personal accident protection, cover for fraudulent transactions on their credit cards and hospital cash pay-out amongst other benefits.
“Travel today has evolved significantly and passengers are now more aware of the need for travel protection, but they are looking for a set of criteria different from pre pandemic days. We are pleased to partner with AXA Partners to provide customised travel insurance plans for Scoot passengers so that they can fly with peace of mind. As travel picks up, we look forward to extending the partnership to more markets in Asia,” says Clemens Philippi, CEO, MSIG Asia Pte Ltd.
Katsumi Kuzuno, General Director, MSIG Vietnam, agrees: “With more travel destinations reopening, this partnership has come in timely and will definitely help to support the growth of the Vietnamese outbound tourism.”
Elaborating on details of Scootsurance offerings for Singapore flyers, Steven Leong, Senior Vice President, Retail Distribution, MSIG Singapore, says: “In finding solutions to ensure more Singaporeans remain protected when travelling, MSIG has partnered with AXA Partners to offer Scoot customers with a pocket-friendly travel insurance policy that can be purchased while booking their flights, which is an increasingly popular option because of its convenience and competitive pricing.”
Scoot Vice President of Planning, E-Commerce & Distribution, Rachel Tan, says, “As international travel continues to pick up pace after a hiatus, there is no better time for Scoot to reiterate our commitment to providing customers with seamless and fuss-free travels with our partnership with MSIG and AXA Partners. Evidently, there is much pent-up demand for travel, and we look forward to providing our customers with simplified travel solutions so that they can reignite their wanderlust with a peace of mind, and discover new experiences around the world. This represents our intent to rebuild travel confidence as a leading low-cost carrier that continues to provide our customers with safe and reliable high-value travel experiences across our current active network of 57 destinations1 .”
Adelane Mecellem, CEO of AXA Partners South Europe, Latin America, Asia, Middle-East Turkey and Africa, declares, “We’re pleased to partner with MSIG to simplify travel for Scoot customers in Singapore and soon Vietnam, as the world reopens and travel regains momentum. Scootsurance is a solution that’s been thoroughly crafted with our customers in mind, ensuring that it gives them a layer of protection in times of uncertainty. Through extensive discussions with Scoot and MSIG, and putting together our knowledge and experience in enhancing the travel insurance proposition, AXA Partners is excited that Scoot Singapore customers will now be able to experience the new Scootsurance underwritten by MSIG.”
